I am deeply honored by -- and very grateful for -- the more than 5,000 residents that voted for me on April 5th as their next Mayor. It will be my privilege to serve all the residents of our fine community as its chief executive for the next four years. I appreciate your confidence in me and thank you for allowing me to do so. It is good to be back!

My heartfelt congratulations to Geoff Neustadt, Sean Durkin and Becky Rheintgen on their election/re-election as Village Commissioners. Along with incumbents Marilyn Schnell, Bill Waldack and Bob Barnett, they will join me on May 3rd in comprising your 2011-2013 Downers Grove Village Council. I have had the opportunity to work with each of my new colleagues many times before, in one capacity or another, and we know each other very well. Thus, there will be little to no need for any transition, as this Council will be ready and eager to begin the weighty task of doing the people’s work on Day One.  Please feel free to contact any one of us at any time.

Although many difficult challenges lie ahead of us, so do many exciting opportunities. Plus, we have the advantage of being able to work with one of the best municipal organizations and staffs in DuPage County and I am confident that, together, we will succeed in keeping Downers Grove a great – and perhaps even making it an even greater – place to live, work, play and prosper. Indeed, I firmly know we will, because we have you -- the good people of Downers Grove -- as our constituents and our inspiration.
